Cory Booker thinks voters were born yesterday

.

In their efforts to whip up a controversy over the GOP’s treatment of Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson, Democrats and their media allies will say pretty much anything. They’ll even go as far as denying that the brutal 2018 hearings for Brett Kavanaugh ever happened.

Democratic New Jersey Sen. Cory Booker, one of the most overly dramatic and inauthentic members of Congress, said that GOP questions about Jackson’s record are “sort of the most outrageous of attacks.” Booker complained that the GOP “attacks” on Jackson were “beyond the pale,” and his disappointment is about the “kind of way we’re going to treat folk.”

Just as the Washington Post tried to whitewash the treatment of Kavanaugh in 2018, Booker is pretending that the outrageous and inexcusable Democratic attacks on the judge never happened. But none of the questions that Jackson has faced so far come anywhere close to Democrats peddling completely unsubstantiated rape allegations in an effort to destroy the life of a judicial nominee they didn’t want confirmed.

Democrats, including Booker, promoted the allegations made by Christine Blasey Ford despite the fact that she never offered a time or place for the incident. Everyone Ford claimed was at the party where the alleged incident happened denied that any such party had taken place — and that included her lifelong friend. Democrats didn’t care about the evidence, though. They just wanted to keep Kavanaugh from being confirmed, and they were willing to do anything, commit any outrage, tell any lie, to stop him.

Booker, who at that time was gearing up for a comically ineffective presidential run, had been part of that attempted lynching. Playing to the cameras, Booker declared himself to be “Spartacus” as he fought against Kavanaugh’s confirmation. He then said that Ford was “speaking truth that this country needs to understand” and that she was “heroic.” Booker said confirming Kavanaugh would be a “dark moment” and that he believed Ford, despite the fact she could produce no evidence even that she and Kavanaugh had ever met.

The Democratic Party’s handling of Kavanaugh’s nomination was truly disgraceful. Voters noticed. Republicans used it to pick up several Senate seats in a 2018 Democratic wave year.

Democrats are now trying to capture that magic by pretending that the GOP’s treatment of Jackson over her record and her public statements is somehow “outrageous” and out of line. But voters weren’t born yesterday. No one will mistake the GOP’s questioning of Jackson for the Democratic circus that Booker and his colleagues put on.
