Sheryl Sandberg’s abortion fiction

.

Sheryl Sandberg, chief operating officer of Meta, formerly Facebook, announced her resignation on Wednesday. She will leave her post in the fall after a record tenure at the social media behemoth.

Sandberg is one of the most accomplished and wealthy women in the world. There is no doubt that Sandberg is highly skilled. Despite having two children, she also subscribes to the idea that women “need” abortion in order to make it in family or work life.

The last thing women need to hear from a successful woman is that choosing to destroy your unborn child contributes to any sort of gender freedom.

In early May, after the Supreme Court draft that would overturn Roe v. Wade was leaked, Sandberg took to Instagram to express her pro-abortion sentiment: “If the leaked draft opinion becomes the law of the land, one of our most fundamental rights will be taken away. Few things are more important to women’s health and equality.”

This is fearmongering. If the leaked draft becomes reality, the question of abortion will head back to the states. But more than that, it’s the opposite of any sort of equality that Sandberg claims to champion.

Abortion is not a fundamental right. Abortion is the conscious, violent targeting of an unborn human who absent any interruption would continue to grow, develop, and thrive.

It is also not equality. That women can and do carry and deliver babies is not a strike against them. It’s a spoiled, petulant society that considers the burden of pregnancy and motherhood to be that which assigns inequality to females.

Pregnancy and motherhood are not easy, but neither are the hardships that must be abandoned in order to achieve success. Teaching women to consider the natural processes of bearing and raising children to be impossible not only harms unborn life but also diminishes the feminine psyche. If female empowerment requires the killing of human life, then it is not worth having.

In response to the news of leaving Meta, Sandberg said, in part, “This is a really important moment for women. This is a really important moment for me to be able to do more with my philanthropy, with my foundation.” It’s unclear what Sandberg’s plans are for the future, but promoting abortion is surely one of them.

It’s a disgrace that Sandberg, a mother herself, advocates abortion as a means to an equal end for women. Sandberg’s position as a privileged executive with unbelievable success does not make her worth listening to when it comes to human life. As she exits Meta, she’ll no doubt be praised for her philanthropy. But if it’s coupled with the usual lies from the abortion industry, it’s nothing more than cheap feminism masquerading as strength.
