Joy Behar doesn’t know that black people can ‘get guns’

.

Somehow, Joy Behar continues to be employed by The View despite her history of making factually incorrect statements. On Wednesday, Behar’s ignorance struck again. This time, she didn’t seem to know that black people can and do own guns.

Behar and guest co-host Lindsey Granger, the conservative-leaning host du jour for the show, engaged in a debate about guns in the United States. After Granger shared a story about a black man in Connecticut having an AR-15 to protect his family, Behar interrupted and expressed her opinion on what would happen if black people started owning guns.

“Once black people get guns in this country, the gun laws will change. Trust me,” Behar said.

This comment raises a couple of questions. Why does Joy Behar not know that black people have guns in this country? Does she think they are incapable of purchasing them? Is she unaware that black people have owned firearms in this country for centuries? The truth is that not only have black people been buying guns, but black people have owned guns for quite some time.

Granger tried to correct Behar, but it did not appear to resonate with her.

“Black people have been buying guns. Look it up,” Granger said.

What is it with liberals and their condescending opinion of black people in this country? First, they portray black people as unable to get government-issued identification. Now, they are saying black people have not been able to get guns.

The other caveat here is the surge of gun violence in inner cities throughout the country. Throughout this unprecedented crime wave, those who have been affected the most by gun violence are black people (who are predominantly shot and killed by black men). Was Behar oblivious to this, or did her toxic left-wing beliefs blind her from the truth?

Also, consider some surveys on gun ownership in the United States. A study by the Pew Research Center revealed that while black people comprise about 13% of the population, they account for 24% of gun owners. Comparatively, white people make up more than 60% of the population, but only 36% own guns. Behar must be shocked to know that, based on this data, black people own guns at a higher rate (compared to their percentage of the population) than white people do.

Behar’s comments are indicative of the condescension through which many left-wingers view black people in this country. Quite frankly, it is offensive and insulting. Hopefully, comments like this are bringing awareness so that black Americans will start to realize the ignorance and low opinion many left-wingers such as Joy Behar actually have toward them.
